In 4 short weeks we will be IN Washington DC for the 2nd Annual Save Our Wild Horses Conference!
What is the purpose of the conference? From the SOWH website: “The 2nd Save Our Wild Horses Conference and rally will focus on spreading awareness about the issues facing our wild horses & burros, wildlife and wild places. Our goal is to shine a light on these issues and to give those of you attending the tools to become powerful voices.“
We look forward to meeting you at the conference!
What if you can’t make it to the conference in person? There are STILL ways you can help!
Contact your own state legislator during the next month to prepare for the advocates who will be there! Send them e-mails, call their offices! You can also set up your own meetings with your own federal delegates in your own state! Now sure how to contact your federal legislator? You can find them here: https://www.congress.gov/members?q=%7B%22congress%22%3A118%7D
WHAT should you say to them? Our friends at Save Our Wild Horses have some helpful information for you: https://saveourwildhorses.net/lobbying-101-steps.html Our friends at American Wild Horse Campaign have also put together this Fact Sheet for you:
Send in your postcards! Save Our Wild Horses has a postcard campaign to help raise awareness about wild horses BEFORE the conference! Save Our Wild Horses also has information about this on their website: https://saveourwildhorses.net/2023-postcard-campaign.html We also created a “Call to Action” to help with this: https://secure.everyaction.com/_FHTeHpTOUG1Er7wwscTYw2
Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates will be there for the entire conference and has several appointments set up already with federal legislators to discuss ways to protect the wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home. We need your help! We will be printing brochures to hand out during the conference to help raise awareness as well as passing out our Fighting for the Spirit of the Badlands window clings. We will also be making presentation folders for our meetings with members of congress. There are several different ways you can make a donation to help support this part of our advocacy work listed on our website: https://chwha.org/support-chwha/
The biggest way you can always help is to share our posts! That helps raise awareness about the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and our advocacy work.
Thank you for your support and have a GREAT week!
Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates is committed to advocating for a wild horse management plan and protection for these unique wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home! We are fighting for a management plan that is guided by science especially when it comes to decisions regarding the removal of horses and the administration of birth control. Many other wild horse management plans have proven to be successful with their science-based plans. We are asking for the same for this amazing group of wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home.
