Hello and Happy Thursday!
We have been telling you that we are working on so many things and today we are excited to be able to share some of that with you!
A big part of Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates includes educating the public about these iconic wild horses. That is A LOT of what we are focusing on now.
We are working hard to keep the story of the current plight of the wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home in the forefront.
As you know, on December 12, 2022 the park announced their plans to eliminate the ENTIRE herd of horses from the park! With your support, these horses have gained A LOT of support BUT they are NOT safe – YET!
Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates has been leading the fight to save this iconic wild horse herd. What you may not know, is that our fight started long before this non-profit even existed!
In an attempt to get help for these horses – THREE years ago I reached out to American Wild Horse Campaign (AWHC) asking for their help. Our concerns at that time were the constant culling of all of the young horses, leaving an older herd that will inevitably be dying off and the experimentation of GonaCon on our mares that the park did for over 11 years with Colorado State University.
As we explained our concerns to AWHC, the listened and then they did their own research.
We have learned A LOT about the wild horse world, the management planning process as well as effective advocating and lobbying as we worked with American Wild Horse Campaign over the years. We are grateful for all of them for sharing their knowledge, all of their help and their patience with us as we learned!
A few things that we have been working on with them is for them to add billboards in North Dakota to help raise awareness and also a separate website that gives the basics of information for the Theodore Roosevelt National Park horses – exclusively.
TODAY – BOTH of those have gone live!
There are billboards up in Dickinson AND the website is live: https://www.savethetrwildhorses.com/

We are grateful for their help and support to help both educate the public and do what they can to help keep the horses in the public eye!
Along the educational lines….
We will be hosting our FIRST “Horse Talk”. This one is called “Coffee with Castle”. We will be talking to Dr. Castle McLaughlin THIS SUNDAY – March 26th at 2 pm MST! This is a FREE Zoom event. You do need to register for the event and if the technology gods our on our side, a recording will be made available at a later date. You can register for the event here: https://secure.everyaction.com/7SkQeAgjrU6JjLH8y_4d8A2

We will be hosting more of these events with different people! TODAY we were excited to hear that Teddy Roosevelt himself will be joining us! He will talk about TR’s history with wild horses in the badlands of North Dakota! How exciting is that?! Be sure to check back for more details coming soon!
Feel free to message us if you are interested in talking with us on a Sunday afternoon OR if you have ideas on people we should reach out to for future Horse Talks! You can email us at info@chwha.org.
We are also getting things ready for our trip to Washington DC where we will be speaking at the 2nd Annual Save Our Wild Horses Conference! While we are in Washington DC, we will be meeting with federal legislators lobbying for protection for the wild horses in TRNP! We are creating a new brochure that will be used at the conference and other events we attend as well as presentation folders for our meetings. There will be handouts for attendees! Those nervous/excitement feelings are starting to kick in!

There is more happening tomorrow and Saturday – we can’t wait to share that with you too!
We are doing everything we can from every possible angle to save these wild horses! If you are interested in helping us as we continue to Fight for the Spirit of the Badlands, please sign up here: https://secure.everyaction.com/6xS7i5nc70mzvKF-gTvjcA2
Thank you again for your support and we hope these announcements made you smile as much as we are today!
Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates is committed to advocating for a wild horse management plan and protection for these unique wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home! We are fighting for a management plan that is guided by science especially when it comes to decisions regarding the removal of horses and the administration of birth control. Many other wild horse management plans have proven to be successful with their science-based plans. We are asking for the same for this amazing group of wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home.
