Hello and Happy Thursday!
We have some EXCITING news to share with you!
First, we want to remind everyone that TOMORROW (5/26/2023) at 9 am MST we will be hosting a Horse Talk with President Theodore Roosevelt (Joe Wiegand) and Stephan Zacharias from the Moab Museum. This will be a very fun and educational Horse Talk for sure! If you haven’t signed up yet, you can register for the event here: https://secure.everyaction.com/zerY5yPAL0iGXwqU3gJCxQ2
On SUNDAY 5/28/2023, our fiend Ginger Fedak from In Defense of Animals will be joining us for a Horse Talk at 2 pm MST. Ginger will be talking about GonaCon and its impact on the Theodore Roosevelt National Park horses. If you haven’t signed up for this event, you can register here: https://secure.everyaction.com/p-zNKba5F0GkxUUc6eHuwQ2
In light of Ginger’s scheduled talk on Sunday and American Wild Horse Campaign’s documents they received from their FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request, we reached out to Dr. Dan Baker to see if he would be willing to share his side of the GonaCon story:
Hello! My name is Chris Kman. I am the president of Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates. We advocate for the wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
As I am sure you are aware, the American Wild Horse Campaign has recently shared some documents they received through FOIA with us regarding the use of GonaCon on the wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. https://americanwildhorsecampaign.org/media/foia-records-raise-questions-sterility-theodore-roosevelt-mares
We have been holding “Horse Talks” over zoom to help raise awareness about wild horses and this topic has come up several times. This Sunday, Ginger Fedak from In Defense of Animals will be joining us to speak about the impact of GonaCon on the TRNP horses specifically.
I would like to invite you to join us for a “Horse Talk” so we can hear your side of the story, how the research has gone/is going and answer some concerns wild horse advocates have about GonaCon.
Please let me know when you are available. We usually do these on Sunday afternoons, but we I can work this in any day and time of the week.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Christine Kman

YESTERDAY Dr. Dan Baker sent us a response:
Hi Chris,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Thanks for reaching out to me for more information on our research with GonaCon-Equine in horses at TRNP. I would be available for a short visit with your group on Sunday as long as the conversation is focused on this research specifically. I’m available for a meeting with you any time after 1 pm.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Dan Baker
PS. I’ve attached background scientific publications regarding GonaCon-Equine in horses that might be useful for our discussions.
