Hello and Happy Friday to everyone!
As many of you know, I had a follow up meeting with Nick at Congressman Armstrong’s office this morning.
What you did NOT know is that it was brought to my attention last week that Congressman Armstrong himself was speaking at a conference IN MEDORA TODAY!
Timing is everything, right?
After looking up the event schedule, I woke up earlier this morning and made my way to Medora with the hopes of running into Congressman Armstrong.
After 1-1/2 hours, of waiting for him to arrive, I FINALLY got a few minutes of his time!
He said that he DOES support the wild horses staying IN Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
YAY!
BUT
They need a responsible management plan.
WE AGREE 100%
AND, he added:
“They have to let science guide them.”
AGAIN, 100% AGREE!
While I was waiting for Congressman Armstrong, I also took a moment to thank Senator Cramer for his support for the horses. I asked him how we persuade Congressman Armstrong? He was surprised that he didn’t support keeping the horses. I told Senator Cramer he was on the side of the park. Senator Cramer said, “Well, we are all on the side of the park, right? As long as they are doing the right thing.” PERFECT! Senator Cramer also thanked us for staying in this fight for the horses!

A few hours later, had my appointment with Nick at Congressman Armstrong’s office. When he asked how I was doing, I said “I’m GREAT!” I told him about my morning. He said that was nothing different than what he has been saying all along. I pointed out that it was. TODAY he said he supports keeping the horses in the park.
Nick and I continued our conversation and talked about the additional documents I sent him along with our Horse Talk with Dan Baker on GonaCon. He also noted the calls, emails, and postcards that he has received! THANK YOU to each one of you for your help and support!
Nick also sent me Congressman Armstrong’s revised statement:

I must reiterate that what happened today with Congressman Armstrong DOES NOT save the TRNP horses. IT DOES give a lot more strength to our fight!
The Fight for the Spirit of the Badlands continues! We will continue to fight until there is a management plan in place that allows for a genetically viable herd of horses AND we have federal protection for this herd.
Gratitude is everything! Today, please join us in saying THANK YOU to Congressman Armstrong! Click on this link https://secure.everyaction.com/MKuwznYVwUq4t5Nwyu8D1A2 to have us send him a postcard thanking him for his support.
Thank you again to each one of you for your help and support! We are getting there! Inch by inch!
Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates is committed to advocating for a wild horse management plan and protection for these unique wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home! We are fighting for a management plan that is guided by science especially when it comes to decisions regarding the removal of horses and the administration of birth control. Many other wild horse management plans have proven to be successful with their science-based plans. We are asking for the same for this amazing group of wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home.
