Sunday Celebrations AND A National Call to Action!

Hello and Happy Sunday!!!

I was in tears yesterday!

HAPPY TEARS!!!

Those of you who have been in this fight to save the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park since the park announced their plans in December of 2022 to eliminate the ENTIRE herd of horses from the park know how hard we here at Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates along with our followers have been fighting for this herd!

We have come sooo far since December and have had the absolute pleasure of watching all of our hard work develop into wonderful things like SCR-4014, the ND state resolution that passed UNANIMOUSLY through the last ND legislative session.  We watched Governor Doug Burgum offer any resources we have within the state of North Dakota to the park.  The United Tribes of North Dakota spoke out for the horses!  The MHA Nation and most recently, The Medora City Council, passed their own resolutions asking the park to allow the horses to stay.  The icing on the cake has been Senator John Hoeven adding language into the Interior Department’s 2024 Appropriations Bill URGING the park to keep a GENETICALLY VIABLE herd of horses!

It is so amazing to have so many people advocating with us! The support we get is evidenced in our calls to action!

Then yesterday happened!!!!

We received an email last week from Associated Press (AP) reporter, Jack Dura asking if we had time to talk to him about the TRNP wild horses.  OF COURSE, we said yes!!!!!

YESTERDAY, the AP released the article!  We asked all of you to help us capitalize on this by sharing the link from the AP site.

YESTERDAY THE PLIGHT OF THE TRNP WILD HORSES MADE NATIONAL HEADLINES ALL ACROSS THE US AND CANADA!!!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

From Google, Yahoo, MSN, ABC News, The Washington Post, The Hill, Fortune and countless local newspapers all across the US and Canada, our TRNP wild horses are listed on the “AP Trending Summary Brief”!!! https://www.galvnews.com/news_ap/nation/ap-trending-summarybrief-at-10-36-p-m-edt/article_d9d82062-e367-56d8-b432-7b76d5906efb.html

I have received countless emails from followers – INCLUDING our nonprofit attorney who let me know that she read about us in her local newspaper in St. Paul Minnesota!  Our website has gone crazy and we have new followers subscribing to our website!

Can you see how EVERY INCH of hard work we have done together has led us to this moment?!

Are YOU crying HAPPY TEARS yet?

Pat yourselves on the back! WE DID IT!!!!

NOW…. HOW do we capitalize on this? We have a few ideas!

YES! A NEW Call to Action” for you!

  • If you have NOT shared the link to the AP website – PLEASE DO THAT NOW!!! https://apnews.com/article/north-dakota-national-park-wild-horses-dd955ffdf9c3ff9f5370e832e59cc3e4
  • IF you know that your local paper covered the story – FOLLOW UP with a Letter to the Editor!  This can be a simple thank you for covering the story or use it to bring light to the plight of not just the TRNP wild horses, but wild horses everywhere!
  • If you found the story in your local newspaper and are able to send us a copy, we would LOVE that!  You can send the papers to: Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates, P.O. Box 3562, Dickinson, ND  58602

More than anything – PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share the link from the AP website!  https://apnews.com/article/north-dakota-national-park-wild-horses-dd955ffdf9c3ff9f5370e832e59cc3e4

The more clicks that story gets, the more it tells the powers that be at the AP that there is a HUGE interest in wild horses!   This can go a long way to help not just the Theodore Roosevelt National Park wild horses, but wild horses across the US!

A HUGE lesson we have learned throughout these last 9 months is that TIMING is everything!  You can do a simple google search for Theodore Roosevelt National Park wild horses and see if your local paper comes up.  Better yet!  If it doesn’t – SEND THEM THE LINK! https://apnews.com/article/north-dakota-national-park-wild-horses-dd955ffdf9c3ff9f5370e832e59cc3e4

I CANNOT say THANK YOU enough to our dedicated followers who have walked beside us EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!

THIS IS HUGE!

You guys are AMAZING!

PLEASE – don’t confuse things.  THIS is GREAT…BUT…THIS FIGHT IS FAR FROM OVER!  We are in the midst of a VERY long process.  Getting so many people advocating with us is amazing and only strengthens our fight!  We still have a lot of work to do!

After you finish this call to action, please take a moment to celebrate!  You deserve it!  We will have to put our noses to the grindstone again soon!

Until the Draft EA comes out, the biggest thing you can do is help support the advocacy work that we at Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates is doing!  We need volunteers to help us!  If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at info@chwha.org.  We also need financial help! There are other organizations that SEEM like they are working with us to save these horses – they are NOT!  Please feel free to email us and ask if a specific campaign to help the TRNP wild horses is helping our efforts.  You can make a donation directly to Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates on our website:https://chwha.org/support-chwha/

Thank you for your support and have a GREAT weekend!

Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates is committed to advocating for a wild horse management plan and protection for these unique wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home!  We are fighting for a management plan that is guided by science especially when it comes to decisions regarding the removal of horses and the administration of birth control.  Many other wild horse management plans have proven to be successful with their science-based plans.  We are asking for the same for this amazing group of wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home.

  1. So utterly closed minded and impervious of National Parks Service. What are they a bunch of automatons!
