From Wikipedia:
“A bully pulpit is a conspicuous position that provides an opportunity to speak out and be listened to. This term was coined by United States President Theodore Roosevelt, who referred to his office as a “bully pulpit”, by which he meant a terrific platform from which to advocate an agenda. Roosevelt used the word bully as an adjective meaning “superb” or “wonderful”, a more common usage at that time.”
As you know, we have reached out to National Park Service Director Herbert Frost requesting an audience to discuss American Wild Horse Campaign’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) findings regarding the sterilization of some of our mares with GonaCon.
Director Frost responded to my request with this email:
“I plan to be in the park the week of July 10, 2023 and I would like to suggest we meet in person. We would also plan to invite other interest groups to attend this listening session. We would be interested in hearing your views as well as others invited, however we would not be making any decisions or commitments. This would just be a listening session where you would have the opportunity to express your views and opinions.
The Livestock Management Plan / Environmental Assessment will be out for review this summer and will be open for public comment. We also encourage you to continue to engage in the formal opportunities to provide input.”
We are in the process of working out ALL of the details BUT we can tell you this….
The Fighting for the Spirit of the Badlands: The Bully Pulpit 2023 rally will be held in Medora North Dakota on July 12 & 13, 2023.
This rally will bring together experts on cultural, historical, scientific, political, legal and economic benefits to having wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We already have some GREAT speakers working out their schedules to be here! We also plan to allow time for members of the public to respectfully speak up about your concerns about the removal of the horses and/or reasons why you want them to stay. We will also be inviting members of the National Park Service to attend and “listen”. They will also have an open invitation to speak to the assembled public as well.
We are STILL working out ALL of the details, but we will be adding a page on our website for updates as we work them out.
If you have thoughts and ideas on how to make this event even better, please email us at info@chwha.org.
We are going to NEED volunteers all along the way to make this event as successful as possible! Please email us at the address above if you are interested in volunteering in any capacity.
We also need corporate sponsors for this event! Please email us at info@chwha.org if you would like to help co-sponsor this event!
MOST IMPORTANTLY – MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR JULY 12 & 13, 2023! DESTINATION: MEDORA NORTH DAKOTA!
Thank you for your support and stay tuned for more details coming soon!

I suggest you invite Mr. Frost to accompany you into the park for an up close and personal experience viewing the horses in the park, their natural habitat! It may occur that he will see how naturally they fit in there and also witness the many tourists who are there to specifically see the wild horses living in a splendid backdrop of the Badlands.
