This Week!

Hello and Happy Friday to everyone!

This has been another great week! Our schedule was full and we had some great talks with some great people about the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park! I spent most of the day reminding myself that it was FRIDAY lol It was a busy week for sure!

We had a GREAT talk last night with Walden, Eric and Patricia on Yesterday USA Radio!  We will share a link as soon as they make it available to us!  Thank you to everyone who sent us messages letting us know that they enjoyed the show.  They really were great hosts and are brainstorming ways they can help!  I actually just received an email from one of them while I was working on this blog with a promising contact!  Stay tuned!

We had a few other new media contacts this week! Stay tuned for more as that develops!

When people ask how we have managed to do the things we have, remember, it has all been one step a time!  Every little thing matters and has helped us realize the positive things coming our way!

I did have a conversation with both our legal team this week and Senator Hoeven’s office.  Our legal team is working on something small but significant to help with our fight.

Senator Hoeven’s office let us know that with the budget extension, the Interior Department Appropriations Bill will not be voted on until the beginning of March.  You will remember that Senator Hoeven added language to the NPS Appropriations Bill strongly suggesting that the wild horses be allowed to stay in the Park.  His office is waiting like we all are for the next thing from the Park.  That should be the public comment letter report.  They are expecting what we are – overwhelming support for the horses to stay in the Park.  His office said that what the NPS is proposing is unacceptable and his office wants to make sure that the horses will remain for the long term – right where they are.  His office is also fighting for a genetically viable herd of horses.  We are grateful to have Senator Hoeven on our side!

I am planning on talking to some of our state legislators next week.  We will give you an update on that when we have it!

I wanted to leave you with a few comments/emails we have received over the last couple of weeks.  I share these so that each one of you understands how important the work we are all doing together is to so many other people and also so you know that the world really is watching.  They are not only watching what the Park is proposing for these horses, they are watching the amazing work that we here at Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates are doing.  You should be very proud of yourselves!  We are!

From a follower in London who read about us in the paper this week:

Right behind you in London UK!!!
Just seen a lovely photo in The Times.
How ON EARTH can these lovely creatures be thought of as an ‘environmental menace’!!!!

All very best to you with all your efforts. Get David Attenborough on your side!!  If you do the WHOLE world will hear about your campaign and support you.

You MUST save these wonderful creatures!!

A comment about our grassroots advocacy shared on Instagram:

“Petitioning has its power, but the real power lays with the people showing up not just signing. I want zero help or funding from the government. The SAFE ACT is almost through the hoops to become a law! That’s the first step, holding local law enforcement and other agencies accountable for the abuse and neglect that that happens at auctions is an avenue that is open also. The bottom line is everyone needs to work together not 40 different directions. When I look at post concerning the removal of wild horses from Theodore Roosevelt national park I see a grassroots campaign that truly exemplifies determination and preemptive strategies not reactive and to me that’s one of the key elements so many are missing.”

Thank you for your support! Have a GREAT weekend!
