Hello and Happy Monday to everyone! We hope you had a great holiday weekend!
First – THANK YOU to everyone who pitched in and helped us maximize our $1000 matching donation! With your help, we were able to maximize this generous donation!
Second – our postcards are in the hands of the printer. They will be making samples for us to review this week to make sure they have all of the fronts and backs correct – then they will go into print. We expect to have them within the next 30 days.
90,000 postcards will be printed!!!
Once they are delivered to us, we will work on packing them up and sending them out to the 840 people who have signed up to send 100 postcards to members of Congress! We do still have room for 60 other people to sign up! If you haven’t signed up already, you can sign up here: https://secure.everyaction.com/K1X-3RVbak6DIa-2Csc-ZA2
Once we receive the postcards and get them mailed out to everyone, we will give you instructions on who to send the postcards to and an idea of the message we would like you to send.
The cost to print 90,000 postcards is approximately $2500. That is with an estimate for shipping, actual rates will be charged when the order is complete and ready to ship.
We will be visiting our postmaster to discuss our bulk rate postage permit and what the estimated cost to ship 900 packages to everyone is. We also have about 75 people who have let us know that they cannot afford the postage for this campaign. Postcard stamps at the local post office are 53 cents each meaning it will cost about $53 to participate. We have had followers tell us that they have ordered forever stamps online at a reduced rate. Others have told us that they are buying stamps every week to offset the whole cost.
We have raised $4500 for this campaign. $2500 has already been spent on printing the postcards. We are estimating that each package of postcards to mail will cost $1-2 per package to mail to each of the 900 people who signed up, for a total of $900-1800 to mail the postcards to everyone. We will know more when we talk to the postmaster this week.
If you are able to help offset the costs for this, we ask that you make a donation here: https://secure.everyaction.com/uGa6A3BjA0-Rnxdxa5MNnw2
Any money that is left over after printing and mailing will go to help pay for postage for people who cannot afford the postage for their postcards.
We have been talking to a lot of different people who understand the political landscape better than we do. We were happy to hear that this postcard campaign is coming at the PERFECT time to get the attention of Congress! I have a few more meetings this week but we plan to share the information and explanations we are getting in our next Horse Talk on April 8th at 6 pm MT.
Our Horse Talks are always FREE, but we do ask that you register in advance: https://secure.everyaction.com/_o3EfJys80iGSjIVlKt2QA2
Don’t forget! This Friday, April 5th we will be having a Horse Talk with our friend Steve Martens on the Historic Preservation Act and the Section 106 review process. You can register for this Horse Talk here: https://secure.everyaction.com/3NaMoA5spUCn3tTx1Gj9ag2
Thank you again for your continued support!
