Are You Ready?

Hello and Happy Friday to everyone!

What a week it has been!

While we can all breathe a sigh of relief because the immediate pressure in our fight for the freedom of the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is over, we STILL have A LOT of work to do.

I have been working for the last week to figure out the next steps to get federal protection for the TRNP wild horses.

The last two years have been a whirlwind and I mean it when I say that I am truly honored that so many of you placed your trust in me to lead this fight to save this iconic herd of wild horses.  Never in a million years could I have imagined where life has taken me.

I have learned a tremendous amount over the last two years.  That knowledge has helped me do things I never envisioned I would be doing.  I have also learned, sometimes the hard way, that I CANNOT do it all myself.  I also have learned my own limitations.

So …

We need your help.

It is time to ramp up our advocacy efforts for the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.   If we do not keep the momentum going and secure long lasting and permanent protection for these horses, then we will have truly wasted these last two years and all we have accomplished.

I personally am not well versed in legislative language.  I cannot write the federal legislation that is needed, and I do not have congressional contacts needed to find co-sponsors for this legislation.  There is so much more to this process than any of us can imagine.

We have spent the last week strategizing and talking to people while we are trying to find the best way to move forward as we continue to Fight for the Spirit of the Badlands

After a long week we are happy to make the following announcement:

Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates hired a Government Relations Team.  We believe this is what we need now to continue our fight as we work with our state and federal legislators to get permanent protection for this herd.  They will not only help us write the legislation we need, but they will help us carry it through Congress.

The team we hired are located IN Washington, DC and will be able to be our voice right where we need them!

This comes at a cost.

I have reached out for help to other non-profit wild horse organizations, especially those that are claiming our victory.  Our hope is that they will be able to help us with these costs as the true fight for the freedom of these horses continues.

We will also be exploring other grant opportunities, but that also takes time.

We need to get started right away so that we don’t lose our momentum.  This is not MY fight, but a fight that belongs to each one of us.  I myself and our organization should not have to bear all of the stress of how to make ends meet for the expenses we have to save the herd we all love.

Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates is a 501(c)3 organization, so any donation you make is 100% tax-deductible. We hope that we can count on you to support us as we continue to fight for the freedom of the 200+ wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home.  You can make your donation here: https://secure.everyaction.com/FbY2_tNxQU6Ehc9K2RsjZw2
