Hello and Happy Wednesday to everyone!
Life seems to have gone from busy to insane almost overnight! There is a lot happening and I thought I would give a quick update on a few things we have been getting emails and messages about.
The immediate threat for the Theodore Roosevelt National Park wild horses is over. The park stopped their current EA process BUT there are still a lot of questions about the management of the horses. Even more concerning is their continued use of GonaCon.
We need help to get through the next step in this process. The estimated cost for federal protection is about $40,000. We have not heard back from any of the other non-profits that we originally reached out to. We cannot wait. We have to take advantage of the momentum that we have gained over these last two years. Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates is working on getting permanent protection for this herd. If we have to fundraise penny by penny to get this done, then that is what we will do! Holly from Bice Policy Group and I met with one of our state legislators last week the meeting went well and Holly and her team are starting to work on things based on our conversation. We will share more details on this when we can. It is all very exciting I promise!
We have been getting some volunteers! That is great! We are really in need of someone who can help with social media and website updates. If you can help, please email us at info@chwha.org.
Postcards!
YES! We are STILL doing that! The person I was working with at the company I ordered the postcards from quit. This left things with our order in quite a state of confusion! I was told they finally found our order and 10 boxes of 90,000 postcards are on the way. There is no movement on my UPS tracking number, so I reached out to them today and am waiting for a response.
Once the 10 cases get here, please be patient. A small number of us will be getting 900 different packages of postcards packed up and sent to the post office. This will take some time. My life personally is more hectic than ever right now, so my time for packing is limited. If you are in the Medora/Dickinson area and can help when they come in, please let us know.
I will let you know as soon as the postcards come in and will update you when they are all sent out. They will all be mailed at the same time as part of our bulk mailing.
There is A LOT happening in the wild horse world! I have a few people who will be writing some guest blogs to help raise awareness about some things that are happening. Be sure to check back soon.
