Everything Matters

Hello and Happy Monday to everyone!

I had a whole different blog in mind for today, but you know what they say about the best laid plans and all that lol

Did you know that Patrick Springer’s latest article about 2019 Bachelor Stallion Alluvium was STILL listed as a “must read” article on the Fargo Forum’s website this morning?

Do you know what that means?

It means that the article about Alluvium had enough people clicking on it that they kept it on their website for 4 days!

I know there is frustration when articles are behind a paywall.  Consider this: Newspapers have had to adapt to life since 2020 when the pandemic hit.  They have to make their money too so that we have the privilege of having an amazing reporter like Patrick Springer reporting about the TRNP wild horses the way he does.  His salary needs to be paid too.  I would say hands down that reading his articles are worth every penny of the 99 cent fee for 3 months of reading!

I also hope that this helps everyone see the importance of sharing articles about wild horses.  The powers that be at these newspapers are paying attention to how many clicks these articles get.  This goes a long way in letting them know that there is an audience for wild horse stories.

In case you missed this awesome article, you can read it here: https://www.inforum.com/news/north-dakota/riders-say-encounter-with-bachelor-stallion-at-theodore-roosevelt-national-park-was-magical-not-dangerous

In light of the growing popularity of this article about Alluvium, I sent the following email to Superintendent Richman today:

Superintendent Richman ~

In case you missed it, there was a wonderful article written by Patrick Springer that was published in the Fargo Forum last week.  I believe it was online Friday and in print on Saturday.  You can view it online here: https://www.inforum.com/news/north-dakota/riders-say-encounter-with-bachelor-stallion-at-theodore-roosevelt-national-park-was-magical-not-dangerous

The article is STILL on the Forum’s website as a “Must Read” story, being fueled by reader engagement.  In other words, the popularity of Alluvium’s story, likely determined by the number of clicks it is receiving, means that tens of thousands of people have viewed this stellar investigative reporting done by Patrick Springer.

It can easily be seen on social media that the overwhelming majority of people who read the article and are taking the time to comment, are in favor of Alluvium being released back into the park.  These comments are also now flowing over to the park’s Facebook page.

Clearly, the people that you were concerned about Alluvium harming did NOT file a formal complaint with the park about him and they are also asking that Alluvium be released back into the park.  It would seem that there are contradictory stories surrounding the reasons for Alluvium’s capture.

He has been in the holding pens for about 6 weeks now without any means of finding shelter through the weird range of severe weather we have had.  According to reports, that weather is expected to continue over the next couple of weeks.

In light of the overwhelming evidence that he never should have lost his freedom, we are once again requesting that he be released back into the park.

Releasing Alluvium will go a long way in helping to restore the public’s faith in the park as well as the park’s willingness to work with the public.

Please let us know when Alluvium will be released back into the park.
