Hello and Happy Saturday!
I wanted to say thank you again to everyone who spoke up and became a voice for Stallion Alluvium. We do still get questions about him so for anyone who does not know, Alluvium was removed by the park and sold to a private buyer instead of being auctioned off for the public to bid on.
Advocacy can be done many different ways. We were honored that a local folk singer, Tom Brosseau decided to tell Alluvium’s story in a song. You may remember, we shared the original song on Facebook. Later, Tom went out to visit Alluvium in the holding pens, and the song changed a little bit.
Tom has been sharing Alluvium’s song and story whenever he can! His latest sharing was on Prairie Public Radio on his Great American Folk Show. You can listen to the segment on Alluvium here: https://news.prairiepublic.org/show/the-great-american-folk-show/2024-07-27/the-great-american-folk-show-episode-116
Alluvium’s story ended this particular show. If you fast forward to about 50:00 you can hear Tom tell his version of the story and share his song.
Alluvium will also grace the cover of Tom’s next album. That is the image used in today’s blog.
Thank you again to Tom and all of you who spoke up so loudly for Alluvium. As we said, we didn’t “win” this one for Alluvium, but our fight for the rest of the TRNP herd continues as we work for federal protection to keep these horses wild and free.
Have a great weekend and thank you for your continued support!
