
Hello and Happy late Tuesday night!
We have a quick update for you.
We are literally doing everything we can to save this historic herd of wild horses. We are starting to see the fruits of our hard work!
Tonight, we attended the Medora City Council meeting. We went there asking that they pass a resolution asking the park to stop the roundup. The council USUALLY takes time to look at proposed resolutions and then come back in the next month and vote on them. This is what happened with the resolution we asked them to pass in August that got passed at the September meeting. We let them know that the park has the wild horse round up scheduled for October 10th.
We worked for this one! In the end, the council voted UNANIMOUSLY to pass the resolution. THANK YOU to the Medora City Council members for passing this resolution on such short notice!
Please note: THIS DOES NOT STOP THE ROUNDUP!!!
The resolution will now be sent to our federal legislators and the park. It lets our federal legislators know that the City of Medora needs their help with this issue.
Please know that walking into the meeting prepared helped!
Our petition had 1640 signatures when I printed it out today! (we are currently at just under 1900!) That petition was presented to the Medora City Council, and I also emailed it to our state and federal legislators. If you have not signed the petition yet, please do! I am also thankful to Dr. Castle McLaughlin and renowned Ecologist, Craig Downer. They both provided statements for me to take to the Medora City Council meeting today!

A special THANK YOU again to Holly at Bice Policy Group for drafting this resolution for us on such short notice! They adjusted the language on the resolution slightly from what we submitted. I will have a copy tomorrow and will share it as soon as we get it.
