The 11th Hour

“Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

I can’t start with my usual Happy Wednesday blog opening.  There is not a lot to be happy about as we are in the 11th hour.  The helicopters are scheduled to fly over the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park TOMORROW (10/10/2024).  We have not heard any updates from the park on the plans for the wild horse roundup.  We DO know that they will be hand injecting ALL  of the mares with GonaCon and removing up to 15 mares who are non-responders to GonaCon.

Governor Burgum’s Chief of Staff emailed me late last night letting me know that negotiations with Interim Superintendent Nancy Finley were not going well, but that he would be reaching out to her again today and promised to get back to me.  LITERAL wildfires are still burning across our state, and the park is without a doubt taking advantage of this situation.

I did send a detailed plea to our federal legislators again this morning.  I am encouraging all of you to do the same.

Please take a moment to use our email link to send your emails to our federal legislators: https://secure.everyaction.com/yd5efKrSlkawCMSXp97IvA2  You can send this email as many times as you like!

We are also asking that you take a few moments today to CALL our federal legislators in their Washington, DC offices.  Here is a simple message for you to say:

I am calling today to express my concerns about the scheduled wild horse roundup at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  This roundup will mean the end of this herd as we know it and if it is allowed, I will not be returning to TRNP.  What is your office doing to stop the park’s current attempts to eliminate this herd?

Senator John Hoeven: 202-224-2551

Senator Kevin Cramer: 202-224-2043

Congressman Kelly Armstrong – 202-225-2611

Once you have made your calls, please encourage a friend and/or family member to do the same.

Thank you for your continued support and we will let you know any news as soon as we hear back from our state or federal legislators.

Why not geld all the stallions, at 6 months. Then every 10 years, add a new stallion, new line of breeding. Easier then all the mares getting injected.

Sounds like a good idea or just keep one stallion unfolded to continue the line
To have to chase these horse some old and round them up and remove them is so cruel and unnecessary

Please please don’t do this to them
I watch from the Uk your beautiful wild herds
Once gone and there habitat destroyed it’s gone forever, this is a legacy for your children’s futures and the planet
Be kind . Think of the future not just the now.
