Hello and Happy Wednesday to everyone!
We know it has been quiet here – that is because it is really busy at the moment!
Our North Dakota state legislation is in the hands of the legislative council now! They have had some questions, and we have a meeting with one of our legislators to go over those next week.
We have also been talking strategy with some of our legislators, getting their opinions on how to navigate through this process this session. We plan on having both legislation and a resolution in this session.
We also have been preparing for the start of some virtual meetings we set up and are still setting up for offices that were not able to meet with us personally while we were in Washington, DC. I am also working on getting info from all of the business cards we collected while we were in DC entered into a document for an exciting new Call to Action for everyone!
Busy times for sure!
There are a couple things you can do right now to help!
- If you have not signed our petition to ask for the collars to be removed, please do. If you already have, THANK YOU – please ask your friends and family to sign it as well. We will keep this open and email it to Deputy Director Lands from the National Park Service as well as Senator Hoeven’s office weekly. We do believe we have a chance at getting these collars off, but it will take everyone’s help to make that happen! You can sign this petition here: https://secure.everyaction.com/x-5WrjPo20Cb4LGbj5PD-A2
- Please sign our petition asking that the language that allows the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to continue to receive funding from Congress – WITH OUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS – for the permanent sterilization of our wild horses, be removed from their budget. We took this petition to Washington, DC and will continue to send it to offices as we have meet with different representatives. There are two additional ways you can help us:
- Please remember Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates this Giving Tuesday – December 3, 2024. We are trying to raise the money we need for the work being done to get state and federal legislation for the wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home. We have received almost $3,000 in matching funds! If you would like to make a donation to help increase our matching funds, please email us at info@chwha.org. If you would like to make a donation to help match the $3,000 we raised, you can do that by clicking here: https://secure.everyaction.com/cBmDbRA6cUuzERpShcQOCg2
- Please consider donating an item for our online silent auction that will take place December 1-8, 2024. The money raised during this auction will go to our Giving Hearts Day matching fund and also help with our legislative and legal expenses. You can donate items for our auction here: http://chwha.betterworld.org/donate-an-item?_gl=1%2Arz0t4m%2A_gcl_au%2AODIwOTE4MzI0LjE3MjU2NDc1NDguMTYyMjkwMTE5MC4xNzMyMTUzOTMxLjE3MzIxNTM5MzE.%2AFPAU%2AODIwOTE4MzI0LjE3MjU2NDc1NDguNzA4NjExMjIwLjE3MzA2ODE3NzEuMTczMDY4MTc3MA.. You can also look at items that have been donated so far here: http://chwha.betterworld.org/auctions/2024-winter-silent-auction?_gl=1%2Arz0t4m%2A_gcl_au%2AODIwOTE4MzI0LjE3MjU2NDc1NDguMTYyMjkwMTE5MC4xNzMyMTUzOTMxLjE3MzIxNTM5MzE.%2AFPAU%2AODIwOTE4MzI0LjE3MjU2NDc1NDguNzA4NjExMjIwLjE3MzA2ODE3NzEuMTczMDY4MTc3MA..
We will have more to share soon so be sure to check back!
Thank you for your support and have a great night!
