Hello and Happy Thursday!
TODAY is the day! Giving Hearts Day is here!!
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we hope we can count on your support!
We have raised $5,000 in matching funds which means that every $1 you donate through MIDNIGHT TODAY (2/13/2024) is AUTOMATICALLY DOUBLED! Every donation of $10 or more counts toward our total!
Early giving started about a month ago and we are so close to reaching our goal this morning! Can you help us with a donation of $10 or more?
You can make your tax deductible Giving Hearts Day donation to us here: https://app.givingheartsday.org/#/charity/1669
Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates led the fight to save the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park when the park announced in December of 2022 that they planned to eliminate ALL the wild horses from the boundaries of the park! Even though the park abandoned those plans in April of 2024, CHWHA is working hard to make sure we NEVER have a repeat of the last 3 years!
We are only in our 2nd month of 2025, but Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates has hit the ground running!
- We drafted and introduced 2 pieces of legislation SB 2331 and SCR 4006 to the North Dakota Legislative Session. Both pieces of legislation aim to help us in our long-term goal of federal protection. SCR 4006 received a unanimous “YAY” vote and will now move to the ND House for committee hearings and House votes.
- We have met with newly elected Governor Armstrong’s office
- We have met with newly elected Congresswoman Fedorchak’s office
- We continue to have conversations with Senator Hoeven’s office
- We continue to work with our North Dakota state legislators
- We held a virtual conference with 32 presentations from wild horse advocates in 4 different countries to help empower and educate the public
- We have lobbied our North Dakota legislators
- We have not only testified for SB 2331 and SCR 4006, but we invited trusted experts to speak up about the need for oversight for the TRNP wild horses
- We created Op-Eds and letters to the editor that ran in local papers
- We continue to talk to the press – radio, television and print – to help raise awareness about the TRNP wild horses and our critical advocacy work
- We continue to meet with Theodore Roosevelt National Park management to question their management practices, express our concerns and offer viable solutions
- We continue to collaborate with wild horse advocacy groups like Save Our Wild Horses, Oregon Wild Horse Organizations, Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center, In Defense of Animals, The Cloud Foundation and American Wild Horse Conservation along with others from across the US to help raise awareness about the TRNP wild horses
- We continue to not only educate but empower our followers to raise their voices to make a difference for wild horses and burros everywhere
- We are working hard to stop the use of GonaCon on the TRNP herd – the park plans to continue their aggressive use of GonaCon in 2025 as they work to “Halt the reproduction of this herd”
- We are fighting to get the GPS collars removed from the 15 horses that they were placed on during the October 2024 helicopter roundup
- We are working with our grant writer to raise $40,000 needed for a feasibility study aimed at helping us with our long-term goal to open a wild horse sanctuary in Southwestern North Dakota
And we are just getting started!
We hope we can count on your help this Giving Hearts Day to support the critical advocacy work being done by Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates!
