“I’m not crazy about your position on “X” but man, don’t you agree on “Y”. Let’s work on that for a while.
That I think is where you start seeing hope.
When people actually meet and get to know each other and they work on a common endeavor then what Lincoln called those better angels come out.
People start recognizing themselves in each other. And they start trusting each other. That’s not just the basis for our democracy but the basis for our long-term salvation.”

Hello and Happy Friday!
I am so happy to announce that several wild horse advocacy groups have been coming together, sharing each other’s information. I have more meetings today with fellow advocates. THIS IS AMAZING! We NEED to come together and focus on our commonalities and elevate our voices so that we can have one unified and LOUD voice for our wild horses and burros!
This blog is my attempt to pull together many things being done by Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates and other groups so you can see the things being done and participate as you can. PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION!
We put together a blog this week with several Calls to Action for the Checkerboard area. You can read the entire blog here: https://chwha.org/2025/06/24/call-to-action-please-help-wyomings-wild-horses/
Our Calls to Action include:
Contact your own members of Congress and educate them on this issue! This is ESPECIALLY TRUE if you are a resident of Wyoming! We created a one-click Call to Action that will email your legislators directly. We also strongly suggest that you also CALL your legislators directly. You can do ALL of these Calls to Action EVERY DAY! You can take this one click action here: https://secure.everyaction.com/GwZbUw4vr0ulNtzoZ7mOjw2
We have a list of Wyoming state and federal legislators for you to call in the blog above. We also have a one click email action you can take. We are urging you to DO BOTH!!!
Please email Wyoming’s state and federal legislators. Again, this is even more important if you are a resident of Wyoming. We have listed phone numbers for Wyoming’s legislators below and have also created a one-click email: https://secure.everyaction.com/pMzBUGAfOEOKxYvYE0QnFg2 AGAIN, we are urging everyone to DO BOTH!
Please sign our petition. We will be sending the names on July 7th to BOTH Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and Secretary Burgum. We need to let them know that we LOVE Wyoming’s wild horses. You can sign our petition here: https://secure.everyaction.com/Mb_fDOMFAUi2LYFbfdztgw2
Yesterday, we received information about a Call of the Wild Call to Action for July 1st. THIS COMING TUESDAY!! Susan Wagner from Equine Advocates is organizing a mass call in day to Congress to restore protections for our wild horses and burros from killing and slaughter and to stop the sales of our public lands. You are being asked to spend just 10 minutes of your time on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to call your two U.S. Senators and your Member of Congress in the House of Representatives. Details are in the flyer below.
I do want to clarify that in the One Big Beautiful Bill, the Senate Parliamentarian has stated that they CANNOT have their wishes to sell off our public lands added to this bill. THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY WILL LISTEN! Several senators – like Mike Lee from Utah, are trying to find ways to get the sale of public lands back in the bill. Keep demanding that our public lands NOT BE SOLD!!
There is a protest being put together in Wyoming on July 10th. You can get more information on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1GVH8EpTHs/
Heather from Save Our Wild Horses has put together an Op-Ed in Wyoming and has a few other action items listed on her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GBQaMpAhi/
Our dear friend Sandy Sharkey put out a post on Facebook yesterday that resonated with many of us. You can read Sandy’s passionate words here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16djea9ArA/
DON’T FORGET about our Coloring Campaign! We have received HUNDREDS of BEAUTIFUL pages colored by kids all across the US – and we are ONLY in week 3! You can get more information – and download the coloring pages – on our website here: https://chwha.org/2025/06/24/call-to-action-please-help-wyomings-wild-horses/
We also need to have more coloring pages printed! Please click our logo below if you are able to help with printing and mailing costs!
I am sure there will be more Calls to Action coming. Please note that even if you live outside the US – YOU CAN STILL MAKE CALLS – ESPECIALLY ON JULY 1ST! I would ask that you call the Wyoming and/or Nevada legislators since those are the “hot” areas with big round ups coming soon!
Thank you to everyone in the wild horse and burro advocacy community for coming together to help our wild horses and burros! YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!!!
Thank you for your support and have a great weekend!
