Hello and Happy Wednesday!
It’s official! The Year of the Fire Horse has begun!
We discussed last month during our 2nd Annual Wild Horse & Burro Virtual Summit that we were working on getting an astrologer to come and talk to us about what this year means astrologically and how we can best harness this energy for our advocacy. We are working out the details with a well-known astrologer and are hoping to have something set up for next week! This should be a very interesting and informative talk! Stay tuned for details!
We are also working on getting a couple more zoom talks set up based on information you requested at the summit. We hope to have sign-up information for you soon.
On the legislative front, there has been some movement on S1377, The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act!
The last movement we had was back in December when the bill was given a committee vote to pass to the full Senate floor for a vote. As part of the process for a full Senate vote, the Congressional Budget Office has issued their cost report for the passage of this legislation.
This is a normal process and something that the committee requested as they passed the bill. This will give our Senators cost estimates. This is something our legislators would want to know as they prepare to vote on this bill.
Remember, once this bill passes the Senate, it moves over to the House where the whole process begins again.
We will keep you updated on the bill’s movement and any Calls to Action we need from you to help get the best piece of legislation passed for the historic wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
You can read today’s report here: https://www.cbo.gov/publication/62138
Lastly, we announced this on our social media pages, but wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our Giving Hearts Day fundraiser a HUGE success! With your help, we were able to EXCEED our Giving Hearts Day goal!
I want to be honest, last year was a very hard year for many non-profits and I know many our wild horse advocate friends had a hard time as well. We are a very small non-profit and literally every $1 donation we receive helps us with the simplest costs from basic office supplies and postage to fees for the Chamber of Commerce groups we are a part of as well as subscriptions for Zoom, website hosting and even things like PO Box yearly fees etc. We also have special projects like getting information in front of our members of Congress to help pass The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act WITH the amendments we have requested.
We are such a small non-profit that literally the majority of the work being done is done by me personally. I have recently been working through some health issues, so my focus has been on that. I don’t want people to worry! These are the same issues I have been dealing with since last April when I was mis-diagnosed with pneumonia. We are FINALLY getting some answers and hopefully I will FINALLY get some relief!
My focus on my health issues keeps me from continually asking all of you to take a moment to make a tax-deductible donation of any size to our nonprofit to help support our advocacy work. What would really be great is to have you commit to a monthly donation to help keep our organization going. Our information is shared freely. We do not hide our videos, articles or even pictures behind paywalls. Our Virtual Summit was FREE for anyone to attend as are our recorded videos from the event.
Your reoccurring donation can be any amount – large or small – believe me when I say everything helps! Imagine what a commitment of $5 a month from even a small number of you can do for our small non-profit!
One time and monthly donations can be made on our website here: https://secure.everyaction.com/pIMNkwr21021HO0xWm0UOg2
They can also be made through PayPal here: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=XNYNCNVLTULGC
Monthly donations can also be stopped at any time.
We are also starting to plan our online silent auctions for the year. Our first one will be in April or May. If you have items you would like to donate to our auction, you can email us at info@chwha.org and we can help you with that process.
Thank you again for your continued support!
