Updates for the week 3/15/2026

Hello and Happy Sunday!

I apologize for not getting our weekly update out last week.  As many of you know, I have been battling some health issues so those issues and the meetings I had took all my time last week.  If you want to know more about my personal health issues, you can read about it here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1PHuppyga3/

Last week was still a busy enough week!

We continued to have some great meetings and conversations with members of Congress this week!  In spite of the different layers of insanity in our world today, we are determined to not lose focus on getting S1377 – The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act amended to be the best piece of legislation FOR THE HORSES!   We will update you when there is movement on the bill.

I also had a great meeting with Superintendent Daniels last week!  We talked about a lot of different things she and her staff have been discussing as ways to change the messaging about the horses from the park.  There were a lot of really fun and exciting things discussed about ways we (CHWHA) can work with the park.  We still have a lot of moving parts to work out but we will be excited to share details when we can!

We also talked about some not so fun things like fertility control, roundups, population control and management and the GPS collars.  Before everyone gets crazy – there are NO current plans for any roundups at the park.  The pending federal legislation has any new concrete plans regarding the management of the horses on hold.  Last week we shared thoughts, ideas and concerns.  While it is too soon to discuss any of that, I can say that I do feel that Superintendent Daniels listened to me and heard my concerns.  I can also say that she seems interested in entertaining ideas that were shared.

It gives me hope for the future and shows how far our relationship with park management has come since 2021 when they announced their plans to eliminate the horses.  It truly is a night and day difference!

As America is preparing to celebrate its 250th birthday, we are excited to have been invited to participate in a few different events!  We will need your help to make these events a success!

We will need to order a few different brochures, educational materials, along with giveaways and activities for the kids.

These are wonderful opportunities to make sure that our wild horses are included in this historic celebration!

We estimate the cost for participation in these events to be between $3,000 – $5,000.

Can you help us make this America’s 250th fundraiser a success?
