Hello and Happy Thursday!
It has been a LONG week for sure!
I have been wanting to edit photos to share this specific one.
We started our week off by being a part of a group of 17 people touring Theodore Roosevelt National Park. These people were in the park as part of the Nokota Experience hosted by the non-profit Nokota Europe happening this week in North Dakota. You can learn more about this event and how you can support this awesome group of people on their website here: https://www.nokotaexperience.com/
People came from all across the globe for this event! Places represented include: France, Sweden, Brazil, Amsterdam, and London, just to name a few as well as people from all across the US!
They are here to learn more about the Nokota horses. The Nokota story starts at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
Organizers of the event are also putting together a documentary about the horses and the event. We are honored once again to be asked to share our small part of the history of these historic wild horses.
So on what ended up being a PERFECT day weather-wise – with the clearest of blue skies, the warmth of the sun shining down on us, and the North Dakota wind blowing as it always does, we ventured out to a spot where these people would witness the beauty of the wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home.

As you can see, the horses DID NOT disappoint!
Most participants were moved to tears just being in the presence of these iconic beings.

Others stopped and just sat to take in as much of the moment as they could.
We are grateful that Superintendent Daniels was able to meet us at the visitor center and then tag along and chat some more as the group filled up on breakfast before we ventured out to see the horses. People were able to speak with her about how important these horses are. She was educated as to how many different places all across the globe the horses that originated from Theodore Roosevelt National Park now call home and how their uniqueness has helped in many different equine therapy outlets. She was very engaged in these conversations. We were equally excited to be able to introduce her to Frank Kuntz – who along with his family and his late brother Leo hands down have been THE BIGGEST advocates for these horses.

We know this was just the beginning of a very wonderful conversation and the new story being written on the future management of the wild horses that call Theodore Roosevelt National Park home. CHWHA will continue to be part of the story that is being written as we build a new relationship with the park and advocate for the best management plan possible for these amazing wild horses.
If you enjoy these few photos, please be sure to check our YouTube channel on Sunday. I am working on a video from this day that will show the horses in all their glory, just being horses and enjoying their home. Thank you to Anouchka and her team who put together what I have no doubt went on to be one incredible event this week! We will share updates on the documentary when it becomes available!

We are currently raising money to help support our July 2-3 event that will take place at Theodore Roosevelt National Park with the BLM, National Park Service and Forest Service. We are putting together educational materials and fun crafts for kids for those 2 days and really need your help to make it a success!
We should have more details in the next week or so on what the schedule for those days will look like!
Thank you again for your continued support and have a wonderful week!
