As we mentioned earlier today, this Wednesday, September 16th, The House Natural Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on Federal Lands will be holding a hearing on S1377 – The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act.
Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates DOES NOT support this legislation as it is currently written. We have asked for amendments to the legislation.
You may remember that North Dakota Senator John Hoeven introduced this bill into Congress and it recently passed the US Senate WITHOUT any of our suggested amendments.
Now the bill moves over to the US House. Senator Hoeven cannot submit the legislation to the House so Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak will be “carrying” the legislation on the House side.
We have also asked the Congresswoman to amend the legislation. We had a long conversation with the Congresswoman’s office explaining the amendments we are seeking and explaining why for each of them. We even offered to help find her Democratic Congressman to co-sponsor the legislation to help it pass. She has decided to simply take Senator Hoeven’s legislation and introduce it as it is – without even creating its own House bill.
This is extremely disappointing BUT Congresswoman Fedorchak CAN still request the amendments to the committee!
She needs to hear from each one of you! ANYONE can send Congresswoman Fedorchak an email. If you live in North Dakota – REMEMBER – the Congresswoman is up for re-election this year! It is critical that she hears from you!

ANYONE can call her office but again, since she is up for re-election, it will mean more coming from people from North Dakota.
They have to log EVERY SINGLE call and email she gets. Make sure she hears from you!
