Hello and Happy Monday! We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

A quick update for you:

You will remember that in 2025, Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates worked with our North Dakota State Legislators to pass a resolution asking for Federal Protection for the TRNP wild horses.

Shortly after that state legislation passed, North Dakota Senator John Hoeven introduced S1377 – The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act into the US Senate. 

We are thankful to Senator Hoeven for his dedication to North Dakota’s only wild horse herd.

We have asked Senator Hoeven’s office since April of 2025 to amend the legislation so that it strengthens the protection of the horses.  The legislation was NOT amended in the Senate – where it passed earlier this year.  It has now moved over to the House of Representatives where the bill had its first hearing.

The bill CAN still be amended!

Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates has spent the summer meeting with members of Congress, letting them know that this legislation needs to be amended and why. 

We are being told that there will NOT be another committee hearing until after the elections in November.  That gives us a little more than 30 days to make Congress understand why these amendments are so important!

One of the things we would like to do is a postcard campaign.  We would also like to put some op-eds in our local newspapers.  The cost for both can range between $3,000-$5,000. Postcard printing and postage alone is about $1,000.

What we are able to do depends entirely on your support.

As most of you know, earlier this year I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease.  That has limited my work.  I have spent any of the days that I felt good advocating for these horses, contacting members of Congress, and meeting with other wild horse advocates and elected officials.  I have not spent enough time fundraising for our organization – and we need your help now more than ever!

We do not have a lot of time, so we are asking that if you are able, that you make your donation to us by the end of this week so we can get the postcards printed and sent out.
