Washington Post – Part 2

Hello and Happy Friday to everyone!

We have some new Calls to Action for you surrounding the Washington Post article that was published online yesterday.  It still has not been decided if the article will be published in their print edition BUT TODAY it is being circulated on their Social Media Pages!  The post has dropped on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/washingtonpostopinions and will drop after noon EST on their Instagram page.  Please respectfully comment on these posts and share them!

Many of you have complained that the article is behind a paywall.  For some people, a simple email sign up allowed them to read the article.  Understand that it currently costs 50 CENTS to subscribe – you can cancel at any time.  This helps mainstream media know that wild horse stories are important!  That 50 cents is less than you probably paid for your cup of coffee this morning.  There are also over 300 comments on the article on their website.  Many of you have complained about comments on there.  MAKE YOUR OWN RESPECTFUL EDUCATED COMMENT!  The more engagement they see on this the more it will help this get into the print version and hopefully bring attention to other members of the mainstream media.

A few more Calls to Action around this article:

  • I emailed copies of the article yesterday to Superintendent Angie Richman (Angie_Richman@nps.gov), Regional Director Herbert Frost (Bert_Frost@nps.gov), NPS National Director Sams (charles_sams@nps.gov), and Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland (Debra.Haaland@doi.gov).  We invite you to send them your own emails today.
  • Share this link with other members of the media – hopefully we get more engagement on the National level.  As one of our Facebook followers commented yesterday “The bigger the spotlight, the harder it will be to get rid of them.”
  • Yesterday, a local ND news station covered the story of the national coverage the horses are getting.  That post on their social media page is blowing up.  Please go to their page and respectfully comment.  Thank them for keeping the horses in the news! You will find them on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/KFYRtv
  • Email the link to The Washington Post article to your own members of Congress.  Let them know this topic is important to you and ask them to support any upcoming federal legislation to help save these horses.

We cannot say THANK YOU enough to everyone who continues to support our critical advocacy work as we Fight for the Spirit of the Badlands!

We ONLY get one chance to save these horses!  We here at Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates are making sure that we are leaving no stones unturned as we continue to find ways to gain support for our fight!

There have been many other things happening this week!  We will try to get caught up on our blog posts soon!  For now, as we ALWAYS say, timing is everything!  Please make sure you are helping to maximize the reach of this Washington Post Op-Ed!
