Hello and Happy Sunday to everyone!
This is going to be a very hectic week for me. My schedule for the week is completely full and it’s ONLY Sunday! Please be patient if it gets quiet here. I promise to share updates as I can!
In our last Horse Talk, Heather and I asked you to contact your members of Congress and request an Appropriations Request form. If you missed the last Horse Talk, you can view it on our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/lBY9Rl-Mgq4
This week, we will be holding another Horse Talk on WEDNESDAY April 17th at 3 pm MT. We will be discussing how to fill out this form. This can only be done at this time of the year, and time is running short to use this tool to advocate for wild horses everywhere. Our Horse Talks are always FREE, but we do ask that you register in advance: https://secure.everyaction.com/nHrsbfuqgUGvKXoVMq5beA2
We will do our best to get the video uploaded to our YouTube channel shortly after the talk, as long as the technology gods approve!
We are ONE WEEK away from our Spring Silent Auction! We have a lot of great items that have already been donated! THANK YOU to everyone who has donated items already! We will have updates later in the week about how you can participate in the auction. For now, we asking that if you have any items that you would like to donate, that you upload them here: https://chwha.betterworld.org/donate-an-item or email us at info@chwha.org and we can enter the item(s) into our auction for you.
Why do we continue to fundraise?
As you know, Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates (CHWHA) has been leading the fight to save the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The Park publicly announced their plans to eliminate the ENTIRE herd of horses in December of 2022.
CHWHA has been diligently working with our state and federal legislators to save this historic herd of horses. Our biggest win has been having Senator John Hoeven add language to the 2024 Interior Department Appropriations Bill that sends a clear message to the National Park Service that Congress stands with the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
As great as that action by Senator Hoven is, it is not enough to ensure that these iconic wild horses remain wild and free!
History shows us that the Park has a history of trying to remove these horses. If we “win” this one and quit now, it will be a complete and total waste of all we have accomplished over the last couple of years.
These horses need federal protection to make sure what we are going through now NEVER happens again! We need federal protection to make sure that our children and our children’s children are always able to see wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
This fight is far from over.
There is a lot of work to be done to make this happen, and CHWHA has already started working on this process!
Your support for things like our silent auction and general donations helps support our critical advocacy work.
What kind of items are we looking for to be donated for our silent auction?
ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!
We have had everything from paintings, photos, jewelry, apparel items, gift cards, candles, taffy and more in our past auctions! If you are in the process of doing some Spring Cleaning in your own home or business, please consider donating those items to our auction.
Don’t forget! Through the month of April, for every $5 donation you make will enter you in a chance to win either Alan Kania’s book or the children’s version of Wild Horse Annie. We will announce a winner on May 1st! There are a number of ways you can make a donation listed on our website: https://chwha.org/support-chwha/ You can also make a donation now by clicking here: https://secure.everyaction.com/FbY2_tNxQU6Ehc9K2RsjZw2 The way this works is for every $5 donation you make, you get one entry, so if you donate $20, you will have 4 chances to win.
Thank you for your support and enjoy the last little bits of your weekend!
