Hello and Happy Thursday!

Thursday!  Already!  It has been a crazy week!

I wanted to take a moment to share events from today with you.  I will have more to share in the coming days.

Governor Doug Burgum has decided to NOT run for re-election as Governor of North Dakota.   The Republican front runners are Congressman Kelly Armstrong and Lieutenant Governor Tammy Miller.

Many of you have written to us and shared concerns we all have: Will either candidate give the same support to keeping the TRNP wild horses as Governor Burgum has?

We shared Congressman Armstrong’s gubernatorial website with you a few weeks ago and encouraged you to ask him for yourself.  You can contact him through his campaign website here: https://www.armstrongnd.com/

I personally have not heard back from my message I sent through his website.  If you contact him and get a response, please feel free to share it with us!

Tammy Miller has been working with Governor Burgum and I was excited to hear that she would be in Medora today at an event.  I happily attended and stood in line for my chance to talk to her.

I introduced myself and was immediately shocked to hear her thank us for all the hard work we are doing to save the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park!  Pat yourselves on the back – as we keep saying, all our hard work is paying off!  People know who is doing the hard work to keep these horses.

When I asked her if we would get the same support from her as we have with Governor Burgum, she said without hesitation, “ABSOLUTELY!”  She said the horses need to stay in the park and she has no idea what prompted all this.  She was part of the meetings Governor Burgum had and is well aware of what he has offered.

She also took the time to ask me where things stood with the horses/where we things are in the process.  I got to spend some time explaining all of that to her as well as things we are working on with our state and federal legislators.  I told her that we wanted to be proactive going into the next ND Legislative session and she thought the things we were working on were great ideas.

I hope you enjoy this small but significant update!  It has been a busy week and I will share more soon!

Just a reminder, our silent auction starts THIS SUNDAY!  In my networking events this week, I was able to get some really neat items for the auction!  I will be working on that tomorrow and will share the  link so everyone can have a sneak peek!

It’s not too late to make a donation for our auction!  You can donate your items here: https://chwha.betterworld.org/donate-an-item You can also email us at info@chwha.org and we can upload your information or arrange to pick up the items locally!

Thank you for your continued support and have a great night!

I contacted Kelly Armstrong, website that was provided, asking about his stand on helping keep the horses in their home!

As I recall, Kelly Armstrong was reluctant to support the horses. Eventually he agreed but it felt forced. Thanks so much for the update.

This email sealed the deal about which person has my vote, Tammy or Kelly.

The latter never replied back to me. The only time he did it was full of mumbo jumbo in a non-personalized email, making sure not to outright say a definite answer.

Knowing the former is supportive of our cause is a BIG deal. And the fact that she has been with Governor Burgam gives me confidence that she does support us and has a real understanding of what and why we’re fighting.

Thanks for the email and I’m looking forward to the auction.
