Hello and Happy Sunday to everyone!
I had the pleasure of being in the park yesterday. I got to witness Stallion Cloud with a group of young bachelor stallions. As we sat and watched 20-year-old Cloud teaching the younger horses, I could not help but think of poor Alluvium, who has been sitting in the holding pens at the park for about SIX WEEKS now! He has often been seen with Cloud and no doubt has gained some knowledge from this wise stallion.
In case you missed it, Patrick Springer wrote another amazing article that was printed yesterday. This one is about Alluvium and gives more details surrounding the park’s claims of him being a nuisance from the people who were there, even the visitor whose horse bucked. Their story seems to contradict the narrative we have been fed by Superintendent Richman.
You can read Patrick’s article here: https://www.inforum.com/news/north-dakota/riders-say-encounter-with-bachelor-stallion-at-theodore-roosevelt-national-park-was-magical-not-dangerous
I DID send another email to Superintendent Richman demanding that Alluvium be released. We will share any response we receive from her. It is clear from the investigative reporting done by Patrick Springer that the park has made a mistake. They need to own that and do the right thing and release Alluvium back into the park.
What else can we do to help Alluvium?
We have a Call to Action – a one click form you can fill out that will send an email to Superintendent Richman, our ND Federal legislators and other elected officials. You can send your email (and customize it) here: https://secure.everyaction.com/4bIr7BLQ60SHxHhJLAI_-Q2
Many people have sent a letter to the editor to the Fargo Forum. You can send yours to: letters@forumcomm.com
You can also look up how to send a letter to the editor to the Jamestown Sun and Dickinson Press, who have also covered these stories.
You can submit a letter to the editor to the Bismarck Tribune by using their online form here: https://bismarcktribune.com/forms/contact/letter_to_the_editor/
Letters to the editor are a great way to get the attention of our legislators and also help educate the public! More than anything, it helps to keep Alluvium in the news.
It has also been suggested by one of our followers to call Senator Hoeven’s office this weekend and leave a voice mail this weekend asking that he help free Alluvium. The phone number to call is (202) 224 -2551
Alluvium is STILL in the park. As long as he is there, we need to use our voices to speak up for him!
Will any of this help?
We honestly don’t know unless we try. One thing IS certain – doing NOTHING will most definitely not help Alluvium.
If they are allowed to wrongfully remove Alluvium by labelling him a “nuisance” we fear this will set a precedent and none of the other horses will be safe from this label either.
Thank you for your support and we will continue to update you if we receive a response from the park.
