Postcard CTA Direction – week #1

chwildhorseadvocates Avatar

Hello again!

As we mentioned, ALL of the postcards have been mailed.  (YAY!!!!)  If you have not already received your postcards, you should be getting them any day now.

Now what?

You should have received 100 postcards.  92 of them will be going to members of Congress who sit on the Appropriations Committee.  We will be mailing them out over the course of the next 3 weeks.  More on that below.

FIRST…

We would like EVERYONE to immediately take 5 of the postcards and put this message on them:

As a taxpaying citizen, I am demanding that the Bureau of Land Management return stolen water for all wildlife on Muddy Creek.

Those postcards should be sent to:

Rep. Carl R Albrecht
350 North State, Ste 350
Salt Lake City, UT, 84114

Senator Derrin R Owens
P.O. Box 127
Fountain Green, UT, 84632

Rep Celeste Maloy
16 S 300 W
St George UT 84770

Senator Mitt Romney
125 S State St, Ste 8402
Salt Lake City, UT 84138

Senator Mike Lee
125 S State St, Ste 4225
Salt Lake City, UT 84138

If you are not familiar with what is happening with the Muddy Creek Wild Horses, you can learn more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JafVI4WV3VI

SECOND…

We would like everyone to fill out the following 2 messages on 92 of the postcards.  Each message should be written on 46 of those 92 postcards:

Message #1

No Bureau of Land Management funding for permanent sterilization of our wild horses!

Message #2

Stop funding wild horse round ups until the Bureau of Land Management is transparent with their plans for our wild horses including the 60,000+ in federal holding.

For the next 3 weeks, we will give you names and addresses for members of the Senate and House Appropriations Committees that we need you to send postcards to that week.  We felt that the two messages above covered the strongest points we wanted to make.  You can alternate the messages you send in whatever way you choose.  We just wanted to make sure that both messages reached Congress.

Congress is in recess so most of the members are back in their home states.  That is why we are asking that you address the postcards to their home state addresses.

This week’s names are listed below.

One last way that was suggested to us to help being awareness to the plight of our wild horses is to add a photo of you sending out your postcards, a picture of the postcards going into the mailbox, or even a picture of the postcards you sent out and add the hashtag #wildhorsepostcards and then also tag your own state and federal legislators.

If you did not sign up for postcards, you can use your own postcards and add the message.  You can also send a letter or an email to the representatives we list every week.  Sending out about 800 packages was extremely time-consuming and we have closed any additional signups for the free postcards for this time.

Thank you for your support of this Call to Action.

Did I miss something? Who is paying for the postage?

    1. chwildhorseadvocates Avatar

Each person is expected to pay their own postage. There were people who told us they needed help and we sent them stamps.
