Hello and Happy Monday to everyone!

We know it has been a little quiet here lately.  There is a lot of work being done on legislation for the ND legislative session that will begin in January of 2025.  We will be sitting down with our legislators in a few weeks with the first draft of our legislation!  Once we agree on the language, it will go to legal council to prepare the final draft for the next session!  We will share this legislation as soon as we have an agreed upon document.  We know you will be excited about this!

We have also been in communication with the park.  At our last meeting, they asked us to share our thoughts on what we think the management of this herd should look like.  We do have a few ideas and will be meeting with them again soon to discuss a few of our thoughts and concerns.  We will be sure to give you a recap of that meeting!

We are also working on how we will pay the bills for all of the legislative work being done.  We estimate that state and federal legislation will cost us about $20,000!  That includes drafting the legislation and also lobbying our state, federal and also other members of Congress to make sure the legislation gets passed. 

We have gained so much momentum over the last 2 years, we know it would be a complete waste if we do not try to capitalize on all the hard work we have done to secure federal protection for this historic herd! 

To help with the financial aspect of this, we are working on 2 important fundraising campaigns: Giving Tuesday (12/3/2024) and Giving Hearts Day (2/13/2025).  Our goals are to raise at least $10,000 for each campaign! 

Both campaigns require a matching fund.  We are currently working on securing those funds.  We are looking for individuals and businesses to help us reach our matching fund goals of $5,000 for each campaign.  We will also be holding a silent auction in October and another one in December to help meet our matching funds goals.

The next 4 months will be pretty busy with our state legislation!  We KNOW you will be really excited about what we are working on!  Watch for some Calls to Action to help rally support when the time comes!
