Hello and Happy Tuesday to everyone!
A few weeks ago, we shared a summary of our meeting with Interim Superintendent Finley and Chief of Resource Management Blake McCann. During that meeting, we were told that we were welcome to share our ideas for the future management of this herd with them.
Shortly after that meeting, we sent a follow-up email thanking them for their time and expressing our concerns about the use of GonaCon on this herd. Superintendent Finley responded and requested that we have another in-person meeting to discuss our concerns. We will be meeting with her and Blake McCann again next week and will share a recap of that meeting with you.
We are also excited to hear from Holly at Bice Policy Group that they are working on our legislation for the 2025 North Dakota Legislative Session. We will be meeting with her next week to discuss the initial draft! We will also be setting up a meeting with our legislators the following week to discuss it with them and start the process for the upcoming session.
Exciting times!
Once the legislation is agreed upon and makes its way through Legal Counsel, we will share the final draft with you!
Lastly, our friend Trish Bonnette took one of our photos of Alluvium and created this beautiful painting of Alluvium. This is a 12×16 pastel original.

Trish has graciously donated this item to us to auction off as a way to help support our advocacy work! For the next two weeks, for every donation of $10 that you make to Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates, you will get one entry for a chance to win this one-of-a-kind painting valued at $600! Trish will even frame this piece for you! You will be automatically entered to win with any donation you make through 10/1/2024!
As a 501(c)3, your donation is 100% tax deductible! All money raised for this giveaway will be used for our Giving Tuesday matching fund. You can make your donation here: https://secure.everyaction.com/FbY2_tNxQU6Ehc9K2RsjZw2
We are hoping to raise enough money between Giving Tuesday and Giving Hearts Day to pay for the state and federal legislation that we are working with Bice Policy Group on for the TRNP wild horses. You can learn more about these fundraising campaigns, including how you can help, on our website here: https://chwha.org/what-chwha-is-doing-to-save-the-trnp-wild-horses/
Thank you for your continued support and we will have more updates to share soon!
