Hello and Happy Wednesday!

THANK YOU!!!

We appreciate each and every one of you who helped make our Giving Tuesday a HUGE success!

We raised $4,000 in matching funds before Giving Tuesday and we used that to set our $4,000 goal for donations on Giving Tuesday.

As of this morning, we raised $6,626.00 for Giving Tuesday!

When you add our matching fund to that, our TOTAL Giving Tuesday fundraiser raised $10,686.00!!!!

You will remember, our original Giving Tuesday AND Giving Hearts Day (2/13/25) goals were set at $10,000 total each!

We set these goals because we estimate the cost of state and federal legislation to protect the wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park to be about $20,000!

WE ARE HALFWAY THERE!!!!!

We are currently working on raising our $5,000 Giving Hearts Day matching fund’s goal.  To help with this, we are holding an online silent auction that started Sunday (12/1) and will end this coming Sunday (12/8)!

There are currently 135 different items included in this auction!  There were a lot of new items added yesterday, and we also have more items we will be uploading later today so be sure to check back!  There is literally something for everyone and bidding on some items starts as low as $4!

You can view all of the items in this auction (and place your bid(s)) here: http://chwha.betterworld.org/auctions/2024-winter-silent-auction

And YES!  You can STILL add items to this auction!  You can donate your items here: http://chwha.betterworld.org/donate-an-item

The mare in the photo of today’s blog is 2014 Mare Opal.   She is currently in Stallion Remington’s band.  As you can see, Opal was one of the 15 mares that were fitting with these hideous collars during the roundup in October.

TOMORROW, we will be meeting with Theodore Roosevelt National Park interim Superintendent Daniels.  We will be bringing a copy of our petition and once again requesting that the park remove these collars from the horses.  The collars can be remotely removed, so there would not be any need for another roundup.

The park plans to keep these collars on these mares for 2-3 YEARS! THIS is what we are fighting for – the proper management of these historic wild horses!  That includes fighting to get these collars taken off!  We already know that there is no need for these collars.  The park already released a report in March of 2024 where they discuss the movement of the horses – which is why they are telling us the collars are necessary.  You can read the March 2024 report here:

If you have not already, please take a moment to sign our petition.  If you have already signed our petition, please ask your friends and family to sign.  The petition can be signed here: https://secure.everyaction.com/x-5WrjPo20Cb4LGbj5PD-A2

We will also be sending copies of the petition to ND Governor Burgum, Senator Hoeven and NPS Deputy Director Lands tomorrow.

Every little thing we are doing IS making a difference.  The biggest thing we are NOT doing is remaining silent!  These horses need us to be their voices if they are going to continue to be part of the landscape of Theodore Roosevelt National Park for generations to come.    In case you missed it, we went through some of the recognition CHWHA has received in yesterday’s blog: https://chwha.org/2024/12/03/its-giving-tuesday/

We will share an update of our meeting with the new interim Superintendent tomorrow, so be sure to check back.

We have also had some really great meetings this week with some congressional staffers!  We have more on Friday and will share an update next week!  Have you contacted your members of Congress?  We made it easy for you to help us maximize our Washington DC trip in one of our blogs last week: https://chwha.org/2024/11/25/washington-dc-update-2-call-to-action/

Thank you again for your continued support!  We appreciate each and every one you!
