The Countdown to 24

Hello again!

There are 47 senators in the 2025 ND Legislature.  We ONLY need 24 of them to vote “YES” to SB 2331!

Thank you to our North Dakota followers who have contacted their legislators!  It is really all of you who will be ablet to help the most right now!

ND residents can use our one-click email form to send your ND Senator an email asking that they vote “YES” for 2331: https://secure.everyaction.com/SjddRw3YAEqfhttddUiopg2

On our countdown to 24, following are the ND Senators that have either told us personally or have told one of our followers that they will vote “Yes” to SB 2331 – we will update this list as more senators sign on!:

  1. Josh Boschee (Sponsor of SB 2331)
  2. Ryan Braunberger
  3. Kathy Hogan
  4. Greg Kessel (he is a co-sponsor of SB 2331 we are assuming he will vote yes!)
  5. Dean Rummel (he is a co-sponsor of SB 2331 we are assuming he will vote yes!)
  6. Donald Schaible – I spoke with him in person today at the Coffee with the Legislators – he promised he would vote YES
  7. Chuck Walen
  8. Tim Mathern

Senators I have talked to that are currently undecided:

  1. Senator Boehm
  2. Senator Conley
  3. Senator Patten
  4. Senator Wanzek
  5. Senator Larson
  6. Senator Magrum

The No’s:

  1. Jeff Barta (voted NO as a member of the State and Local Government Committee)
  2. Jose Castaneda (voted NO as a member of the State and Local Government Committee)
  3. Judy Lee (voted NO as a member of the State and Local Government Committee)
  4. Kristin Roers (voted NO as a member of the State and Local Government Committee)
  5. Kyle Davison will vote NO (as the committee recommended) and stated he is tired of the conversation

I CAN tell you that the senators I did speak to said that they appreciated me taking the time to call them and bring these bills to their attention.  There are about 1100 bills being considered and there is just no way that they can have knowledge of each one.

So again, please take the time to send the one-click email above if your senator is NOT on the “YES” list.  As I mentioned above, it will also help if you call them.

The contact information for each of our ND Senators can be found on their roster sheet.  You can download the sheet here:

If you hear from your senator one way or the other, please send us an email at info@chwha.org and let us know.

24 out of 47 seems like a VERY DOABLE number to us!

We have a commitment from 8 – ONLY 16 more to go!  We are 1/3 of the way there!!!

I will be making more phone calls tomorrow and have offered to meet legislators in person or on the phone to discuss these bills further.

IF you do speak to your legislators, don’t forget to let them know these horses are a natural resource to the state of North Dakota and by our formula, they are worth AT LEAST $37 MILLION DOLLARS EVERY YEAR to the state!  You can download this formula here:

I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has been writing Letters to the Editor!  I have seen a few over the last couple of days and please know that these DO help!

The info to send your letters to the editor for North Dakota newspapers is:

The Bismarck Tribune:  https://bismarcktribune.com/forms/contact/letter_to_the_editor/

The Fargo Forum: https://www.inforum.com/letters-to-the-editor-and-guest-column-guidelines
The Dickinson Press: https://www.thedickinsonpress.com/letters-to-the-editor-and-guest-column-guidelines
The Jamestown Sun: https://www.jamestownsun.com/letters-to-the-editor-and-guest-column-guidelines
The Grand Forks Herald: https://www.grandforksherald.com/letters-to-the-editor-and-guest-column-guidelines
The North Dakota Monitor: https://northdakotamonitor.com/commentary-submission-guidelines/

One step at a time!  I have no doubt with all of you working together with us that we will be able to get BOTH SCR 4006 and SB 2331 passed!

Have a great night and thank you again for your support!
