Hello and Happy Thursday!
We have been talking A LOT about federal legislation for the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We promised you that there would be a Call to Action when the time was right.
THE TIME IS RIGHT – NOW!
THIS TUESDAY – 12/9/2025 – S1377 – The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act will have its FIRST committee hearing in front of the Energy & Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks!
HOW EXCITING!!!!
It’s also a bit nerve-wracking!
This is just one of the first of many steps this bill needs to get past the finish line! IF, at any ONE of these steps the vote is for the bill NOT to move forward – THAT’S IT!
DONE!
FINISHED!
KAPUT!!!!
WE CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN!!!
We shared a blog series in October where we went into detail on this legislation, the amendments we are requesting and why.
We have shared these amendments with Senator Hoeven’s office. We have also emailed them to members of the committee.
NOW, we need your help! We have until MONDAY 12/8/2025 to get the committee’s attention! THAT is NOT a whole lot of time, we know! But we also know that together, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
We have a one-click Call to Action for you to take action and ask the members of this committee to recommend the passage of S1377 with the amendments we requested. This email will email ALL of the senators listed with just one click from you.
This Call to Action can be done from people living ANYWHERE – you DO NOT have to be a US resident! You can take action here: https://secure.everyaction.com/T36FlnIDpka4ZwpjPdfCIg2
You can also send this email as often as you like!
If you want to up your game – you can also CALL members of the committee and request that they pass S1377 with the amendments requested by Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates! The committee members are listed below along with their DC office numbers.
Senator Barrasso (Wyoming) – 202-224-6441
Senator Daines (Montana) – 202-224-2651
Senator Cassidy (Louisiana) – 202-224-5824
Senator Murkowski (Alaska) – 202-224-6665
Senator Hirono (Hawaii) – 202-224-6361
Senator King (Maine) – 202-224-5344
Senator Gallego (Arizona) – 202-224-4521
Senator Hoeven (North Dakota) – 202-224-2551
Remember, if you choose to call these offices, always be respectful when you call. The person answering the phone can take your message.
Please ask your friends, family and co-workers to take this simple action too! We have just a short time to make a big impact!
A quick reminder, these horses live in a fenced National Park and are managed by the National Park Service. They are NOT protected by the Wild and Free Roaming Wild Horses and Burros Act, which is why we have been working to get federal protection for them. They are also NOT managed by the BLM. There is NO ranching interest or competition with this herd.
