Hello and Happy Tuesday everyone!
It has been a whirlwind for the last few weeks and we have been BUSY!
First, we want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped make Badlands & Bridles: Public Lands Horse Use and Management on July 2–3, 2026 a success! We are thankful to all of our sponsors and also Theodore Roosevelt National Park staff for hosting and helping us throughout the event!
Personally, I cannot say a big enough THANK YOU to CHWHA followers Brenda and Jada Ready for trekking from Nebraska to North Dakota to help with the event!

During the event, we were able to participate in two different presentations, one on the Horse Management at TRNP and the other given by the USGS on the tracking collars. We will have detailed posts about both presentations coming soon!

Our main focus continues to be the Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act. This is the federal protection that Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates has been working on long before the Environmental Assessment came out in 2021! We have put so much time and effort into getting the amazing wild horses of TRNP the federal protection they deserve for more than 7 years now! We promise not to stop until they have THE BEST piece of legislation available!
The current version of the legislation that just passed by the US Senate falls short of providing the best protection for these horses and has been concerning to us since the legislation was released. Our feelings toward the legislation have not changed now that the legislation is on the House side. There IS still time to get the amendments we are seeking, and we are working diligently to get this legislation amended.
We know you guys are also waiting for the Calls to Action around this legislation. Remember: timing is everything! We are still working out details with Senator Hoeven and other members of Congress and promise that all of you will be the first to know when we need you to jump in and help!
We are also thankful to American Wild Horse Conservation for releasing the joint statement between Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates and AWHC. We are thankful to AWHC and our other wild horse advocate friends and supporters for their commitment to helping us get THE BEST version of this legislation amended and passed! For now, the best way to help us is to help support our advocacy work! Your tax-deductible donation is how we are able to continue fighting so hard for our beloved TRNP wild horses! We still have A LOT of work to do and our success depends on your support.
