“It’s important, when going after a goal, to never lose sight of the integrity of the journey.”
~Andy Garcia
Hello and Happy Tuesday!
We wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has answered our Calls to Action! We have officially sent in our testimony for the Congressional hearing TOMORROW (9/16/2026) for S1377 The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act!
Each one of you who took the time to sign our petition have now been entered into the official Congressional record for this hearing!
Isn’t that exciting to be part of history in the making?!
This has been a LONG fight and we are grateful for each one of you who have shown up every single day with us throughout this fight and answered all the Calls to Action that not only saved this historic herd of wild horses but have now brought us to this exciting moment as we see federal legislation becoming a real possibility for this herd!
YOU DID THAT!
Every action you have taken mattered every step of the way!
More importantly, none of us ever lost sight of the goal AND the integrity of our journey together to save these horses!
That is why it is important even now that we are continuing to ask for amendments to make sure that the wording in the final piece of legislation actually protects these horses.
This legislation is not about today and the current situation with Park management. It is about every single day after that. It is about 10 years from now. 20 years from now. Maybe even 100 years from now. What if, as history has shown us, we have a management staff that is NOT horse friendly? The legislation as it is currently written can be detrimental to this herd.
There are also people who think that we should let this legislation pass as it is – because “bad” legislation is better than no legislation. They say, “We can ask for it to be amended after it passes.”
I am not sure who the “We” is in that statement. I can tell you it will not be ME. If our members of Congress are NOT willing to amend this legislation now, I am not sure why anyone thinks they will be willing to later.
We have battled for this herd while others stood on the sidelines watching and then as we, as an organization, realize success, they try to take credit for the endless hours of hard work and dedication from all of us.
Most of you know I have been battling serious health issues. While I am much better than I was back in February of this year, I still have a way to go. Stress is not my friend as I battle with this illness so I will not be jumping into the ring trying to achieve the impossible task of getting this legislation amended.
The time for amendments is NOW.
If you have already taken our Calls to Action to contact Congresswoman Fedorchak’s office and the Natural Resources office, THANK YOU!
Now I will ask – HAVE YOU TAKEN THIS ACTION – TODAY?
I never ask anyone to do anything that I would not, could not or have not done myself. I spent yesterday in meetings with other wild horse advocates, members of Congress and the press.
I had guest articles published in BOTH The Fargo Forum and The Bismarck Tribune.
You can read them here:
So, I will ask again – what have you done TODAY to help this herd?
We are down to TODAY to make an impact and let our elected officials know that we are not in favor of this legislation as it is currently written. They will ONLY know that if they hear from YOU – TODAY!
Below are the easy one-click links to contact both Congresswoman Fedorchak and the Natural Resources Committee. You can send these emails as often as you like! Once you do, please ask your significant other, kids, co-workers, friends, family and anyone else you can think of to take this easy one click action.
