Hello and Happy Monday!
We have another busy week this week!
Our final silent auction of the year started yesterday! Have you checked out the amazing items we have in this auction? You can view the items in the auction, and place your bid here: http://chwha.betterworld.org/auctions/2024-winter-silent-auction?_gl=1%2Ajr3uqm%2A_gcl_au%2AODIwOTE4MzI0LjE3MjU2NDc1NDguMTY4MjU5Mjk0LjE3MzMxNTM5OTYuMTczMzE1NDQzNg..%2AFPAU%2AODIwOTE4MzI0LjE3MjU2NDc1NDguNzA4NjExMjIwLjE3MzA2ODE3NzEuMTczMDY4MTc3MA..
The auction runs through 8 pm Mountain Time on 12/8/2024.
All money raised will go to fund our Giving Hearts Day matching fund. We need to raise at least $3,000 for this fund in order to participate in Giving Hearts Day. We have set a Giving Hearts Day goal of $10,000 which means we need to raise $5,000 in matching funds. You can also donate directly to our Giving Hearts Day matching fund by clicking here: https://secure.everyaction.com/KrELigjJckyX7vqDTjTdzg2
TOMORROW is Giving Tuesday! We have been collecting donations for the last couple of weeks and have raised $1,837 of our $4,000 goal as of this morning! THANK YOU to everyone who has donated! Remember – every $1 you donate – up to $4,000 – is automatically DOUBLED! You can make your Giving Tuesday donation here through MIDNIGHT (Mountain time) TOMORROW 12/3/2024: https://secure.everyaction.com/cBmDbRA6cUuzERpShcQOCg2
Money raised through both of these fundraisers will go to help fund our work to get state and federal legislation for the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park wild horses. We expect these costs to be $20,000. This is the #1 goal we have at CHWHA.
We should have some news on our state legislation hopefully this week!
Also, this week we will be having our first meeting with TRNP’s new interim Superintendent Rachel Daniels. We will be bringing her a copy of our petition asking that the collars be removed from the 15 horses during the October roundup. If you have not signed our petition yet, you can sign it here: https://secure.everyaction.com/x-5WrjPo20Cb4LGbj5PD-A2
The current plan is for these collars to remain on the horses for 2-3 YEARS! This is unacceptable! We also know that the park already has reviewed the land usage of the horses – they even did a report on it! You can read the report here:
We have a couple of virtual meetings with congressional staffers this week as well. We know last week was a weird week, in case you missed it, please help us maximize our DC trip by contacting your members of Congress! The details are in last week’s blog: https://chwha.org/2024/11/25/washington-dc-update-2-call-to-action/
Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful week!
