Sad News to Share

Hello and a not so happy Tuesday to everyone.

We have some sad news to share with you today.

Last week, my husband was in the park and when he shared a video of Stallion Flax’s band that he took with me, I immediately noticed that someone was missing.  2024 Filly Ivy, the last foal born to this herd in 2024 who was born on December 21, 2024.

I was out in the park Sunday, and my husband went back out again yesterday. Without question, Ivy is not with the band.  As a 5-month-old foal, there is no where else she should be other than with her mom.

I reached out to Superintendent Daniels to see if she had any information.  She promised to discuss this with her staff and get back to me.

I received the following email from Superintendent Daniels today:

Hi Chris,

This is what I’ve learned from staff regarding the missing filly:

They aware that the filly has not been with the band for a little over a week. They do not know what happened, but say that often foals fall in holes, get stuck in ravines or just succumb to other unknown internal biological issues (or maybe get bit in the nose by a rattlesnake and suffocate).

We will never know what happened to little Ivy, but we are happy that she lived her entire life wild and free.

This was the first foal for Mare Bess.  Stallion Cagney was her presumed sire.

Rest in peace little Ivy.

We also want to thank Superintendent Daniels for reaching out to her staff and sharing that information about Ivy with us.

We are sorry to share such sad news with you but always promise to share what we know when we know with our followers.

Thank you for your support.
