We are continuing to work on the amendments we would like to see for The Theodore Roosevelt National Park Wild Horse Protection Act. We have more meetings with members of Congress and should have an update for you soon on the amendments we are asking for.
As the government shutdown continues, we know that will impact hearings on this legislation. We will continue to keep you updated! Giving Hearts Day is our biggest fundraising event of the year. Giving Hearts Day will be February 12, 2026. Our goal will be to match whatever we have raised in our matching funds. We have until January 27th to submit the matching funds we have raised.
Last year we held our first ever Wild Horse Virtual Summit! Experts and advocacy leaders joined us as we discussed wild horses & burros, public lands, and what you can do to help. We have been planning our 2026 Virtual Summit! We already have several speakers already confirmed! There will be a mix of speakers from last year as well as some new speakers we have invited! We will have a list of speakers to share by the end of this month!
When we initially started pulling people together for the summit, we planned to have it over the course of a weekend. We ended up having over 30 speakers in 5 packed full days of presentations! We also had to cut off speakers because we just kept adding days!
When we asked you how to make the summit better many of you requested that we do this over the course of a few weekends. We could not agree more!
In 2026 – the month of January will be spent talking to as many experts and advocacy leaders as possible to help educate all of us and help us be better advocates! We are planning for mostly weekend presentations but also will accommodate groups and organizations that request weekday time slots.
