Hopefully you are staying warm in your part of the world! Our current “feels like” temperature is -22 this morning!
We are coming into another very busy week! We have a ton of meetings again this week and a very long “to-do” list!
As you know, our main focus is the state and federal legislation we are working on to help get the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park the protection they deserve. We have been working hard with our state legislators to have legislation introduced in the 2025 North Dakota Legislative Session. Our talks continued with them over the weekend and our legislation will FINALLY be submitted on MONDAY! We will have a final version of our legislation to share with you on Tuesday, along with the list of co-sponsors on this critical legislation! This legislation already has bi-partisan support!
Once we have our bill number, it will be time for EVERYONE to testify to help get this legislation passed! If you are unsure how to testify in the North Dakota Legislature, we are holding a Horse Talk on Wednesday, January 22nd to explain how to testify. EVERYONE can testify! You DO NOT have to live in North Dakota AND even better – you DO NOT EVEN have to venture to the frozen tundra! You can easily testify online in the comfort of your own WARM home! On Tuesday, we will participate in the City of Dickinson’s Giving Hearts Day Proclamation! The Mayor will officially proclaim February 13, 2025 as Giving Hearts Day!

We shared a highlight from the US Senate Confirmation Hearing on Friday for Governor Doug Burgum for the position of Secretary of the Interior. There is now a YouTube link so you can watch and hear the amazing dialog between Senator John Hoeven and Governor Burgum as Governor Burgum committed to continue to work with Senator Hoeven’s office to protect the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park!
THIS is a HUGE testament to YEARS of hard work and dedication of Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates and our followers! YOU have helped keep the issues facing the wild horses of TRNP in the limelight – ALL THE WAY TO THE US SENATE IN WASHINGTON DC!!!
All of your ongoing support for CHWHA, your calls, your emails, your signatures on petitions, all of the times you shared our posts, and EVERY SINGLE TIME AND EVERY SINGLE WAY you have raised your voice to speak up for these historic wild horses is EXACTLY how we got here!
OUR WORK IS FAR FROM OVER!!! I feel like we have been pushing a boulder uphill for YEARS now! We are sooo close to the top of that mountain! Many hands really do make light work, and I am grateful to every single one of you who have joined forces with us to help lighten this very heavy load!
It IS truly amazing how far we have come since December of 2022!
